The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized a large meeting and celebratory event to mark the National Day of the Republic of Portugal, in coordination with the Portuguese Business Council, which operates under the Chamber's umbrella. The meeting included discussions on cooperation between the business communities of Sharjah and Portugal, and ways to develop joint working mechanisms to enhance economic partnership, increase the efficiency of trade exchange, and open new and innovative horizons for private sector companies in both countries to capitalize on available investment opportunities.

In his address during the meeting, Abdullah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, welcomed the attendees and congratulated the members of the Portuguese Business Council on Portugal's National Day. He emphasized that the UAE's national economy continues its strong performance, driven by the success of its economic diversification strategy and confident progress towards achieving the goals of the "We Are the UAE 2031" vision to double GDP and enhance the global competitiveness of the UAE economy. He noted that Sharjah's economic indicators reflect exceptional growth in capital investments and the number of projects, reinforcing its position as a leading investment destination based on diversification and sustainability. He also highlighted the Sharjah Chamber's commitment to expanding its international partnerships and providing an ideal and stimulating business environment that enables Portuguese businesspeople and investors to transform promising opportunities into fruitful projects.

Fernando Figuerinhas, Ambassador of the Republic of Portugal to the UAE, expressed his deep gratitude to the Sharjah Chamber for organizing the event, which reflects the depth of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He praised the leading position that the Emirate of Sharjah enjoys as a distinguished investment and trade destination in the region, thanks to its advanced infrastructure and integrated facilities and services that it provides to the business sector.
